Long Range Radio
Long range radio telemetry equipment is available in three types:

The most commonly used is multi channel one way poling. These units transmit test signals each day and relay a code to identify the individual's premises and type of activation.

Multi channel two way poling systems. These radios are transceivers and allow two way communications. The monitoring centre can check the status of the systems on the premises at various times of the day and can also remotely operate the systems if required.

The cellular phone network can also be adapted for transmitting digital data signals to the monitoring centre.

In certain areas where radio signals are blocked by mountains etc. a combination of short range radio and a digital communicator connected to the telephone network some distance away can provide useful backup in relaying information to the monitoring centre.
